Frequently Asked Questions - JG Custom PCs
FAQ Home | Questions About JG Custom PCs | Computer Terminology
Why should I purchase a PC from JG Custom PCs rather than one of the larger, more well-known computer manufacturers?
In short, every computer purchased from us is carefully designed, built, and tested to order; we strive to provide you with personalized service. We ensure that you will be able to inexpensively upgrade your computer for years by building it with standards-compliant parts. We thoroughly test each computer that we sell for two days based on your needs. And finally, we never load our PCs with "junk" advertising software that has become so common elsewhere. We welcome you to read more about the differences between us and larger computer manufacturers here.
What if I want a computer that is different from the standard models that you offer?
We welcome custom requests! Simply use our contact form to tell us everything you can about the computer that you need, and we will respond with details about your custom-built system. And feel free to ask questions if there is anything you're not sure about.
Why don't you specify brand names with many of your parts options?
We always use reputable, high-quality manufacturers for our parts. However, we update our parts options frequently as new hardware is released, and the brands we use will differ from month to month. To give you an idea of what sorts of manufacturers we use, we frequently (but not always) use Sapphire and EVGA for video cards, GIGABYTE and EVGA for motherboards, Western Digital and Seagate for hard drives, ACER and KDS for monitors, and Logitech for speakers. If you would like to order a PC with parts from specific manufacturers, or even request a specific model part, simply make the request in the comments field when you order your PC, and we can usually accommodate you with little to no extra cost.
Do you offer a warranty on your PCs?
Yes! We take pride in our quality workmanship and thorough testing practices. We offer to repair or replace defective systems for six months after purchase. You can read the warranty here.
Why does it take 10-12 days for your computers to ship?
We design, build, and test every computer when it is ordered. After carefully hand-constructing your computer, we place it through an extensive two-day testing process based on your needs to ensure that your machine arrives in working order. We are careful to ensure that you receive a quality, well-constructed machine. Because we are a smaller company, we are able to take extra care with these computers and still ship as fast as or faster than many larger manufacturers.
My shopping cart says that I qualify for personal delivery. What does that mean?
If you order a computer and request to have it shipped near our headquarters in Eugene, Oregon, your shopping cart may tell you that you that you qualify for personal delivery. That means that for a minimal charge (much less than the cost of shipping), one of us will personally drive your computer to you when it is completed. We will contact you beforehand to set up an appropriate time for this, and of course, you can always request to have it shipped instead.
